📣announcement: DVD & Blu-ray discs will be Discontinued
SharpShooters Video is transitioning to 100% Digital Delivery — here's what you need to know.
Starting January 1, 2026, DVDs and Blu-ray discs will NO LONGER BE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE. We’ve been offering Digital Video delivery since 2018, and now we’re fully embracing Digital as the exclusive format moving forward.
We know you may have questions — here are the answers to the most common ones:
💡 GENERAL QUESTIONS
Why are you discontinuing DVDs and Blu-rays?
DVD technology is nearly 30 years old, and most modern viewers now consume video via streaming or downloads. Major companies like Netflix and Best Buy stopped producing DVDs in 2023, and we're following suit to focus resources on higher-quality, faster, and more accessible digital delivery. When is the last day I can order DVDs or Blu-rays?
We will accept disc orders through December 31, 2025. After that, physical discs will no longer be available. Can I still get DVDs for an event taking place before the cutoff?
Yes! For all events prior to August 2025, as long as the order is placed on or before December 31, 2025., we’ll fulfill it as usual.
💻 DIGITAL DELIVERY
How will I receive my Digital Videos going forward?
With Digital delivery, you’ll receive a secure link and instructions from your group on how to access your video online. Once you have access to the private video page, you can watch the video there or use the built-in playlist to skip to the exact song or scene you want to see. You can also download the video directly from the private video page.If it’s Digital, will I actually own anything, like I’m used to owning DVDs?
Yes! You have a full year from the date of your event to log-into the private video page and watch your video online. Anytime within that year, you can download the video file to your home computer and that file is yours to keep forever. We highly recommend you save it to at least 2 locations - like a back-up hard-drive or a flash drive - just to make sure you never lose those memories! What file format do you use, and will it play on my devices?
We deliver in MP4 format (H.264) — the industry standard. It’s easy to use and compatible with nearly all devices — smartphones, computers, smart TVs, and tablets.Do I need special software to watch my video?
No — our digital files play with standard programs like VLC, QuickTime, Windows Media Player, and on most web browsers and smart TVs.
💿 QUALITY
Will I still get the same quality as DVD?
Yes — in fact, better! Digital Video is the same resolution and high-definition quality as our ORIGINAL recording. So your Digital Video is actually sharper and clearer than DVD, because for DVD, our original recording has to be compressed - therefore, degraded - to fit onto disc.
🔁 past events
Can I still order DVDs of past events just to make sure I get a disc copy before the discontinuation deadline?
Yes — we’re happy to fulfill any DVD or Blu-ray orders through the end of 2025.Once DVDs and Blu-rays are discontinued, will I be able to order past events as digital files?
We are currently in the process of reformatting select past shows so they can be accessed digitally. Our goal is to make as many shows as possible accessible in Digital format, as long as the group’s director approves of offering their shows in this way. We have a HUGE library, though, over 22 years of shows - so this process will take some time. Check back soon for more information.
